Down in the lonesome valley
Where the valley dwellers dwell
There's some as say it's Heaven
While others say it's Hell
But I don't know
I never seen it for myself
I'm going to California
On account of my bad health

I've been all round the world
I've seen the same old things
Devils in disguise
Angels without wings
But I don't know
Too much about it all myself
I'm going to California
On account of my bad health

16. I Don't Know
(McGowan) But I do know why I wrote this. I was sitting reading the paper one day and I suddenly wondered what it would sound like if jazz guitarist Barney Kessel had joined a jug band. Does anyone else think this way? -- Davy

This is The Diamond of this box - everything is bloody perfect! Funny, I hear more blues than jugband in this. Also the lyrics are fantastic - I understand them without seeing it. 'I don't know - I never seen it for myself' ... Excellent! Also the line 'let's fade away' makes me fall off the chair. -- Jore
